Door County, Wisconsin
I think one of the most unique hiking experiences I’ve had to date is hiking in the dark under a full moon on the shores of Lake Michigan. We were very hesitant to do it because...who walks at night?
Door County in Wisconsin is called Death’s Door because of all the shipwrecks in the vicinity. It was truly surreal and a bit eerie hiking here at the end of the peninsula…waves crashing and the moon illuminating our every step.
It was a memorable walking experience in the dark for a change of perspective and a challenge to the senses. When I talk to others about that trip, that is almost always the first thing that comes to mind.
